Armchair Twitch™ FAQ

Sawtell Public SchoolQ. I’d be interested to take part in the Armchair Twitch™. How do I go about it?
A. Get a group of birding friends together, decide on your favourite birding
spot, organise a picnic with refreshments of your choice. Seriously – it’s as easy as that.

Q. How do I register?
A. First you take part in the Armchair Twitch™. Then you send your results on the registration form to the Armchair Twitch™ Coordinator. Email or PO Box 38, Harlaxton 4350.

Q. When is the Armchair Twitch™?
A. The Armchair Twitch™ runs from midnight to midnight on the last Sunday in September annually. In 2008 this will be 28 September.

Q. Where can I have my circle?
A. Your 5m diameter circle can be anywhere. It may be your home, your paddock, your local park, your favourite bit of beach, the choices are endless.

Q. How many people can be on my team?
A. Teams have unlimited membership within the constraints of the 5m diameter circle. They may comprise of different people at different times. Binoculars & telescopes may be used.

Q. Does every team member have to be in the circle at the same time?
A. No, you can have people take it in shifts.

Q. Can we put out food to attract the birds?
A. No, this is against the ethics of birdwatching. However artificial food sources do not include bird baths &/or feeders normally in your backyard.

Q. How will we know who won?
A. Winners will be notified. Otherwise check the Birds Australia website regularly: www.birdsaustralia.com.au/the-organisation/southern-qld-twitch.html.
